Projects
Still trying to get some more ideas together towards some ‘one shot’ wonders with models. Have a couple of pipeline dreams but nothing is going any where fast. Time is always slipping away from me and before I know it I miss a chance to shoot something. In due course fingers crossed it will all come together. I actually miss setting up a shoot with a model, meeting them, working through ideas, doing the shoot and producing something with another person. So far the whole thing has revolved around shoots I done at the end of last year and nothing solid since. The shoots worked out about 50/50 with good and half good. I wish I had time to do more again.

My photography in general has been progressing but I have not shot anything to rave about. My opportunities to seize the moment pass me by as I feel too lazy, drunk, tired, uninterested, etc. Combine that with a lifestyle where time is taken up with shloads of work and study it is easy for a week to turn into a month before I concentrate on getting decent work.

At the same time I have taken some good work recently but have lacked the time to roll it into show and tell on here. All in good time.

Projects
New projects? I wish. Still the same as last time. Booooooooo! I lie a little here though. In a month or so I hope to do a shoot with a friend. But these things have a way of not coming through when the reality comes near. Fingers crossed it works out.

My scrap book portfolio is going great. I think I only have around 20 pages left to fill. I guess after that its time to start on something else. Ideas at the moment are moving towards stencil art projects based on my photography. I tried one so far and it worked pretty well. Perhaps when I have a perfect one I can wander the streets late at night plastering spray painted stencils on concrete faces like all the other individuals.

My other idea to start a portfolio of people is coming along. I have printed off a few and need to start working them into a book. Who to start with?

So the big news if you bothered to read this far? I have a dream idea at the moment. I found an art gallery for hire in West End, Brisbane. You hire the venue for week long periods and have full use of the space. I am thinking 2 weeks would be sweet. The space has 3 rooms and shloads of wall area. Too much for me to fill (due to costs of enlargements and framing) most likely…….
So what to do with the other remaining wall space? Well thoughts are to request one “best of” artwork piece from people I know that are into various arts. The idea is in providing them with a chance to get one of their works on display. A little present from me and a nice way to diverse the gallery show all round.
Why do this though? Chance of sales and money? No. Chance of glory? Perhaps. The ability to say I gave it at least one go and put myself out there with my soul on the walls? Yes.

Pffft I would run a contest but no body bothers to have a go. Is this whole Journal thing just a waste of time? Are we all psoting journals without any readers. Perhaps its just me.

So yes there is a clear theme here of……GIRLS! For one the obvious reasons is that I am man here me roar *cough*. The main reason though is because I love female form photography. Something about it being smooth lines, curves, aesthetically pleasing, diverse and a portrayal of human beauty in many forms. Just wish I had more females and time to do this photography.

It has been ages since I have “worked” on a complete new photo idea/concept of my own. I have taken plenty of photos but lack the resources to finish them right now – minor touches like framing and basic presentation. It saddens me because I use it to escape the stress of work and dive into the world of presenting my own photographic point of view.

I started making a “scrap” book of my photos from overseas. An 80 page black canvas book where I am sticking A3 sized prints into it. I showed a few friends recently and they seemed impressed. You always wonder if they just say so to please you. I guess you just have to take it for face value and be grateful for the comments.

Following on from the idea above I am going to do the same with just people/portrait shots. Mostly it will be of my friends. A book with a lasting memory of the great people I have met and know. Wouldn’t it be great to sit down when I am 60 and flick through the pages. How the fuck to keep a book that long?

My mind wonders in other directions as well. I think I have fallen back into auto mode after arriving back from overseas. I need to snap out of it and follow my own flow. Something is almost there, its grasping the final concept that seems to be the problem.

My Work

I am currently running another comp in this club. It is a fairly open theme so I am keen to see the work that will come back. Done right it has the chance to be outstanding. The hard part is motivating the members to get involved and submit work. How can I do this? Any suggestions from this crazy world of the web?

Projects
I dont have access to a puter to enable me to submit any new works. The basis of any new submissions are photos I worked on previously.

I am moving house so there are things to catch up on outside of this lovely hobby called photography. That combined with a little lack of inspiration is clogging my progression of late. Soon to be more in due course.

A friend from Scotland has given me a little project to work on. I have to portray in a picture what being home again means to me. Should be a nice challenge.

Ok so I have neglected to add anything in Deviantart for an extended period. Sure neough though I was distracted with greater things. I just arrived in Vancouver after a Month in Peru and a few days in San Fran. Peru was amazing with a heap of photos taken. I will start submitting a few of these in a short time to come. Need to frame and present a little and they will get uploaded.

As I said I am now in Vancouver. Kinda. I am outside at a place called Cultus Lake. Lovely place with snow covering everything at the moment. Hope to head out with my cousin this weekend for for slope action. Snowboarding is calling my name.

only 20 more days before I arrive home after a years travel. Scary.

Any way keep this short. Look for more photos submitted soon. I will also get around to featuring some new work so keep an eye out for that.
